Since when is Superman so evil? (spoilers)

Hey,

I don't follow the comic books nor the animations any more so can someone please explain to me why Superman has suddenly become so evil?

1) Since when is Superman the private one-man-army of America?
2) Why does Superman work for the President?
3) Why is Superman OK with killing non-American soldiers AND killing Batman?
4) When did Superman become stupid to the level of 0 IQ?

If anyone can explain this to me, I'd be really grateful :D

Frank Miller is The Joker.

I did not like what they did to Superman in this. They made him evil.

No way. Misguided, maybe. Not evil.

If you were Superman, and the government passed a law that said, "No more superheroes", and you're Superman... What do you do now?

You can't just turn a blind eye to the suffering of the world. You can't stop being what you are, even if the government tells you to. So what do you do?

He found a middle-ground, where he could still try to help the world, and still be himself. Albeit allowing himself to be used as a government tool.

Not evil. Definitely misguided, which is why Batman wanted to beat the crap out of him, to wake him up to reality. But in no way is Superman portrayed as evil here.

Other posters have already answered Questions 1-3 for you, so I'll just take a shot at 4 if you don't mind.

He didn't become stupid. He always had a rather arrogant stupidity surrounding his actions. Throwing himself in front of missiles, smashing himself into objects, automatically attacking with his fists before using his head, etc. I don't think he's as bad as 0 IQ, but it has always irritated me that he uses his fists BEFORE he uses his brain.

That being said, it's another excellent counterpoint to Batman, who is pretty much exactly the opposite.

In Superman's defense, however, he sees himself as nearly indestructible, and that fits into his tactics when it comes to his battles. He does throw himself in front of things that might hurt other people, too, so maybe he thinks he has to fight that way.

I do think this is why he and Batman make such a great team. They have opposite viewpoints on how to win the battle, but both of them fight for the very best outcome. Superman's weaknesses are Batman's strengths, and vice versa.

Like your analysis of Batman and Superman. Misguided? I can accept that its just working for a man like Lex Luthor and doing his bidding that is what bothers me the most.
