Not In-depth Enough

This is is an entertaining documentary but throughout it’s runtime it only touches the surface of the films mentioned. I personally would have enjoyed it more if it had taken a deeper dive into the films of the blacksploitation era, but I guess since it summarized the lead up years so heavily, this would have needed to be several episodes to do so.

Regardless of this documentary only skimming the top of these great films, there was still lot’s of information on the genre as a whole. The releasing of soundtracks months before the actual films as a way of advertising and The Whiz (1978) being the final nail in the coffin for the genre were of particular interest.

For me, this was still worth the watch but left me wishing there was a part 2 focusing on the 70s only.
