Missed Opportunity

I was excited for this and was impressed by Sienna Miller. But am left a bit underwhelmed overall. It could have developed his fascination with Tippi a bit more, and it could have been creepier. A lot of it felt like stuff I'd already known about Alfred and Tippi.

I agree 100%. As a Hitchcock fanatic, I thoroughly enjoyed the film.

Whatever the facts or motivation, the film that resulted was tediously dull.

Pretty much. It could have been a really great movie, it had all the pieces. It just... fell flat.

Why don't you add accuracy to the title of your post and name it "I just didn't like it"?

I thought it was excellent and was wondering what opportunities were missed.

reply

Because it's not that simple. There was an interesting story to be presented, but the result was one-note, with funereal pacing.

Because it was a missed opportunity.

I'm with the OP 100%

I'm a huge fan of Hitchcock's movies, but this flick bored me to death.

Director has the hots for his female star, and tries to use his power to make her be with him.

Gee, how shocking.
Other than about 3 minutes of interesting "behind the scenes" stuff re the filming of "The Birds," that's all this movie has to offer. - And it's done strictly by the numbers. No insights, no surprises, no real drama...

It already had a pretty high cringe factor. If they had gone further it might have been unwatchable for too many people.
