The worst film I've ever seen.

I don't say that lightly, but I saw nothing to secure an Oscar nomination, it should be in the Razzie awards. This wreaks of pro war propaganda. The Japanese were given no character. It was deplorable. Sorry, I never start posts on here.

I don't say this lightly, because I have seen a lot of stupid comments on the internet... but your claim wins. Stupid as hell.

jerk, they were given the character they deserved.

This is what I'm gonna miss the most about imdb. Watching any above average movie, then go to the board and read the "worst movie I've ever seen" thread.

"The worst film you've ever seen"?

Clearly you've never watched "Freddy Got Fingered".

Oh, wait...

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

reply

And this is why the message boards are closing, because people like you call it the worst film they have ever seen, without having any reason.

Yep, couldn't agree more. The way it was filmed, the acting, the ridiculous action scenes. It looks to me like Mel watched a Call of Duty videogame before shooting this film instead of doing serious research on infantry tactics in world war 2. The absolute worst part was when the main character carries of the sergeant and the sergeant keeps picking off japs with his submachinegun. Also, there are so many scenes of US and Jap soldiers mindlessly running towards each other amidst explosions and machinegun fire with complete disregard of their own lives. Now, we know the Japs did in fact charge the US lines recklessly but this was just so far over the top, no one with even a slight amount of knowledge on WW2 can possibly take any of this seriously. And then there was a little wtf moment with the Jap commander commiting Seppuku in the end, which was a needless scene, the Japs were hardly involved in this film, they were only canon fodder. Add poor performances by Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington to the list and you have a very mediocre film. I wouldn't rate it as low as Windtalkers or We were soldiers but damn it, it is close. This is nowhere near the level of Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line (hate it or love it ), Stalingrad or Clint Eastwood's Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima in my opinion. Mel Gibson should retire from making films, especially war films, he is simply not cut out for this.

Yup I couldn't agree more with your post Luukscholten, unfortunately most kids here don't know much about real WWII history.

If you love realistic WWII films check out: The Winter War, Cross Of Iron, Come and See, Men Behind The Sun 4, Beach Red, Bridge At Remagen, Long Days Dying, and Stalingrad (1993) Not the new one ;)

Agree. It was awful. A war movie should be serious. This was, at times verging on a comedy. Casting Vince Vaughn was a terrible mistake. His one liners made me laugh out loud. Awful mis-judgement. Then again, I guess he was only playing along with the awful script.

Platoon is a war movie.
Full Metal Jacket is a war movie.

Hacksaw Ridge is a superhero war comedy.

Another example of why IMDB are killing off their boards. Without fail some idiot creates a thread of how they thought a particular film was 'the worst movie ever made'. It's trolling, simple as that. A film could be universally praised, win 10 Oscars, get rated 9.9 on this website but there will always be that one idiot to start a thread like this. And you're probably sitting behind your pc protesting IMDB's decision to give the boards the axe......well congratulations, you're the problem, not the cure.
