Americans - Watch This Movie!

An all around better, funnier, more organic and surprisingly raunchier romcom then the crap Hollywood puts out; Canada, I didn't know you had it in you!

It's the same thing... with the jewish main guy and everything.

- Right , always the same old story drag in 3 words in a story

jew,rabbi,barmitzva

it's so uninteresting , in an otherwise okish story

This blows away most comedies in America because not only was it far dirtier, yet not raunchy, it had a lot of heart and characters you could totally relate to.

I feel as if it was like an 80's teeny bop movie overhauled for adults. Everything pretty much worked and the acting, writing was pretty original. Even though clichéd at times, it remained to hold my interest completely all the way till the end. I'd even say I could have watched another 15 minutes of it.

same here, i loved it, and i thought that Vik Sahay stole every scene he was in. anyone else know of any Canadian gems like this one?

good film..

You Might As Well Live is another obscure Canadian movie I stumbled upon that you might like. It's much funnier though and with a little better acting IMO.

The Arrow (1997) is a good Canadian movie but it is totally, totally different so you might not like it. It is based on a true story about Canada creating an advanced fighter plane. I am sure there are many that are more like My Awkward Sexual Adventure but I cannot think of any.

One of the Production Companies in the Company Credits for My Awkward Sexual Adventure is Julijette so you should look there.

Vik Sahay is definitely in Chuck. That's where I mostly know him from.
But you are also correct about American Pie.

Got a question for the people who watched and liked this film. When watching this did the movie "Office Space" spring to mind?! haha It did for me!! Any movie that brings one of my favorites to mind, is a great film for me!! A MUST WATCH

Not just Americans, I'd recommend it for anyone who likes a surprisingly good laugh. Went into this expecting a low budget exploitation crapper and was very pleasantly surprised.

It also manages to be rather sexy (and not in an objectifying kind of way) which you don't get with many US romcoms. Watch with an (open minded) date and you'll end up having a very good night.

How do movies this good disappear without a trace? I mean it's no Citizen Kane but it *beep* all over meet the Fokkers and countless other one joke wonders that fill cinemas daily. Was it big in Canada?

I'm in Canada, just happened to catch this on the hotel TV. Just surfing around checking out different things, and thought this was some tv series. But the quality seemed too high, to me. Never heard of this movie and I'd say it's well done without the always-rural-tainted old style Canadian culture stuff.

Americans: Don't watch this film. I'm Canadian and had the misfortune of seeing it. It's not remotely interesting and it's largely a Canadian-edition of an American romantic comedy except the leads are ugly enough that it's somewhat realistic.

Thanks, saved me some time.

Oh, yet another self-hating Canadian. We do make some terrific films up here, such as this one, but few Canadians sadly see them and even fewer appreciate them because they are self-hating Canadians like mohammed-4.

Uh, what? So wrong. Why did you watch it if it wasn't interesting?

It was very interesting and was about some deep and real emotions and human connection. Guess you missed that part.

Mid-aged American white guy here who stumbled upon this on Netflix, and LOVED it. Great dialog. And, as I recall, some pretty solid advice about seducing a woman's mind and body. Protagonist was cliche: sexually inexperienced Jewish accountant, who takes WAY too long to figure out the right gal for him. Oy vey. More than a few ridiculously impossible scenes (I'm SURE flipping a few bucks to a stripper at a club will get her to give you the home address of a coworker). Good chemistry between the stripper and lead male. "Tell me what you want to do with your hard c**k!" Very sexy stuff. Would like to have seen more of that hot word play between them. The Indian buddy was hilarious. Also nice to see cunnilingus get its rightful due on the big screen.

I can't believe I never saw this movie until tonight. It's almost perfect in every aspect. This movie should be rated much higher then a 6.0.

Well Just by absolute chance, I caught this on Netflix today,
it was a suggestion after playing another movie. Anyway, I am
American, Florida to be precise, and I thought this movie was
fantastic. The scenes of the "lessons" were totally organic, IMO,
and I could see this happening with someone in life.
A lot of guys had the good fortune to have a special
relationship with a girl that was platonic, but also
got that opportunity to ask all those questions to help
us with our romantic/sexual; encounters. I personally
had a girl who was a friend and this movie reminded me of
her. We had some "teaching" sessions along the lines
off this movie, lol, but we never got romantic like this.
So the movie seemed all that more real and believable
to me. Also Emily Hampshire is gorgeous!!!!(esp in the black get-up, lol)

I dream of something like this happening to me - not the drama but the sense of connection and mutual caring and growth. Thought my marriage was gonna be like that. Glad to read your comment that you saw that. Most people didn't, it seems, at least among commenters here.
