Oh Look

More inclusive casting that totally ruins the time and place in which the story is set.

That is original. *eyeroll*

reply

Oh, I'm so sorry for you! Not everyone understands what fiction is. This show is based on a fictional book. It could also be that you're incapable of suspending your disbelief. Sometimes, that is easily corrected with a fast-acting laxative. But, if you are ignorant, no amount of laxative will work to rid your system of the idiocy.

reply

I'm sorry you don't understand the difference between fantasy and reality.

The book was based on real historical events that Wharton herself witnessed. Her society was not inclusive. By showing that it is, is a LIE and it is a deliberate destruction of historical record.

The only one ignorant, lax and idiotic is YOU.

reply

Oooh, someone's triggered. It's an adaptation of Wharton's book. The writers can do whatever they want. And, again, it's fiction. You still seem to have trouble understanding what that is. Edith Wharton's book was fiction. And, you must be 12-years-old to believe that it's a "LIE" to do an adaptation of a book and change elements.

reply

Wharton was writing about Consuelo Vanderbilt and her marriage to the Duke of Marlborough. She changed nothing except names and maybe scattered the story across a few different characters.

No, you are the child expecting fantasy in place of reality. The fantasy isn't going to change what happened except make the feeble minded feel better about themselves. Supporting this tripe makes you racist. You should be pushing for truth across all media not fantasy.

reply

And they all talk in the speech patterns and vocabularies of 2023.
The writers ought to have watched The Gilded Age first and taken notes so as to get the language right.
But they figure we're all stupid and throw any old thing up there on the screen.
