Why does Twister look better?

I haven't seen it but I have seen the trailer and I cannot believe that a movie made in 2014 looks way worse than a movie made in 1996. The tornadoes in this film looks so fake. A problem with movies today is that they rely too much on CGI because it's cheaper. If you look at Twister, the tornadoes look much, much better. Hell, the Wizard of Oz (1939) tornado looks better than the tornadoes in this movie. The sad part is that there is a generation of kids going to see this movie who have never seen Twister.

So your impression was that the tornadoes in Twister were NOT created with CGI? I assure you, they were. If only they could have CGI-ed a better scriptwriter for it as well. Much of Twister's dialogue was so stupid and sappy that a Razzie was definitely in order.

My people skills are fine. It's my tolerance of morons that needs work.

It doesn't. The very real storm chaser, Reed Timmer thinks the tornadoes in Into the Storm look much better than those in Twister. The big tornado at the end of Into the Storm even multiple vortex structure which none of the tornadoes in Twister have.

Because Twister's script wrote this film clearly. Same premise, just a lot of nobodies. Dialog might have changed but a movie is a movie is a movie.

better actors, script, effects?? You name it. All were better
