Mr. Poppy is full on crazy in this one...

They should do a Nativity 4, set many years after the "comedic" shenanigans Mr Poppy gets up to in these film, which opens up in a mental asylum where Mr Poppy is being detained.

Some of the insanities he gets up - which generally involve kidnapping kids, including babies - would be played back to him in a more sobering light revealing that the first films in this series were simply his mental hallucinations of how HE thought things were turning out. The reality being that he scared A LOT of children and their parents back in the day.

Subsequently Mr Poppy would escape, in the run up to Christmas, and return to the scene of his former crimes. With a terrified local population all warned that the lunatic was on the loose and hoping to lure the children into some more Christmas "fun", he could be talked down in Raoul Moat / Gazza fashion with a few tinnies and a chat from his former best friend (in his mind anyway) Martin Freeman, in what would be a touching finale.

I see this playing out as more a psychological horror and less a for laughs Christmas good time movie and therefore Martin Freeman - even although he probably thinks he's too good for this sort of thing these days, having played the hobbit, etc - would surely be interested in returning for such a meaty role...
