"GOD has sent this MAN to HELP US. THANK HIM."

Poor Alice. Her mother has been pimping her out for so long. "God has sent this man to help us. Thank him", Alice is told. Her reaction & already visible disillusion tells us this isn't the first time her mother has allowed her daughter to be raped so that the two of them could survive. How many other times did they run out of gas on the way to California from Canada? How many places to stay & meals to eat were bought with Alice's flesh? She could've knocked the man unconscious with the gas can as he walked away with Alice. Taken his cash & gas & high tailed it out of there, but didn't even hesitate to let that "Christian" man do as he pleased. Horrible.

"God has sent this man to help us. Thank him"

Does anyone else hope we'll go back to that FLASHBACK SCENE again, and find either the MOTHER or the YOUNG GIRL who's being RAPED end up MURDERING the MAN who wants to SEXUALLY ABUSE her (before they also find LOTS of MONEY inside of his WALLET after they kill him that they'll be able to use for FOOD and SHELTER and for buying still more GAS).

Maybe then the mother could also offer some additional "THANKS to GOD" for his having sent the man to help them, so that they could MURDER HIM and finally have some FOOD to eat???

Because that would also be such "DELICIOUS POETIC JUSTICE" to find something like that happening in the SEASON FINALE.
