The massacre in the black neighborhood was absolutely horrifying

I'm an American so I'm watching this on Sundance tv for the first time but I'm really enjoying it. And I gotta say, the scene where Ciro and the other gangsters shoot up the black neighborhood and kill the people there indiscriminately was one of the most horrific scenes of television I've seen in a long time. Not because it was super graphic but because it felt so gritty and real. And the way that not only do they kill numerous innocent people, but to not even be bothered by it after the fact...well that really says something. Definitely a very different take on gangsters and it was really bold to show them do something so awful so early in the series at the risk of alienating some audience members, but I thought it was a great decision. It really sticks with you and helps to not glorify the criminals onscreen.

What season and episode?

It's based on a real story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castel_Volturno_massacre?wprov=sfla1

None of the African victims were involved in criminal activities, and were chosen at random.

Jesus Christ. What the hell is wrong with these people? The scene alone was horrifying enough, but the fact that it actually happened absolutely disgusts me. Thanks for sharing.

They were probably considering black people as monkeys just like their boss Don Pietro so no Wonder they didn't care. Yeah probably the most shocking scene of season one with the kid Diego used like a bait. People not in the "game".
