Rank the Campaigns

Not talking about multiplayer or the games as a whole, just which campaign you found to be the most enjoyable (story, gameplay, etc.) For me...

1. Halo 4
2. Halo: Combat Evolved
3. Halo 3
4. Halo: Reach
5. Halo 2
6. Halo: ODST

Halo 4 takes the cake in my opinion. Great game and I now have faith in 343 to take this series onwards.

HALO 3 BY FAR!!!!!!!! 343 SUCKS! PLAY PART 3 AGAIN AND YOU'LL SEE. A BLAH ENDING!! THE GAME WAS REPETITIVE FROM BEGINING TO END. AND I FINISHED IT ON LEGENDARY IN A COUPLE OF DAYS, HALO 3 WAS MUCH MUCH LONGER AND THE CO-OP WAS THE BOMB. GET OFF 343 PENIS THEY FAILED BIG TIME!

reply

I gotta say that I kinda gotta agree with you. Halo 4 was a major letdown for me...I think I'm gonna have to change my ratings of the campaigns to this:

1. Halo: Combat Evolved/Anniversary
2. Halo 3
3. Halo 2
4. Halo: Reach
5. Halo 3: ODST
6. Halo 4
7. Halo Wars

And yes, unlike many people on here I thoroughly enjoyed ODST and thought it actually had a better campaign than Halo 4.

Shayne the amount of piss-poor judgement I see on this site is ridiculous, I like how they articulate there argument, HALO 4 is what X-Men 3, and Batman and Robin is an example of how you take a nice pile of steamy poop on a franshise, and still make millions. I will continue to kick all you noobies and try hards asses on the multiplayer still.

Halo 4 Story was awesome.
Halo: Reach Making your own character was cool and what happened to Noble team was a very powerful thing.
Halo 3 Still good.
Haven't been able to get Combat Evolved Anniversary yet but hopefully will soon. It seems like it would be good to not buy Wars or ODST

This guy has no idea what he's talkin about, bet he never played a Halo game in his life. Did someone buy you Halo 4 for x-mas???

reply

Is the comment directed at me or someone else? I actually got the game the day it came out. Pre-ordered it. I also have Reach and 3 as I said. GT is Whisper1992 if you don't believe me.

1)Halo 1. One of the best campaigns of any game, even with some flaws like retreading levels.

2)Reach. Some pretty exciting moments make up for its annoying characters that they want you to care about so badly.

3)Halo 4. Very short, but doesn't wear out its welcome like some of the other games. To the point; probably the best pacing out of any of the games. The story got me pretty invested in cortana's predicament.

4)Halo 3. Some meh levels drag this down to the middle of the road.

5)Halo 2. The first 3 levels of this game are better than most, but you have to take into account the annoying story shifts and the anti climactic ending complete with annoying boss fight.

6)ODST. Walking between levels is not my cup of tea. Never cared enough to truly play through it all the way.

reply

Anti climactic ending sums up Halo 4, most disappointing ending of the year, co-op is badly done, player 2 spends alot of time watching player 1 do major scenes in the game, like the ridiculous 2 second long boss battle, I love the Multiplayer, great improvements, but theres no vehicles for Flag and no hornet to fly from one end to other to score the flag. HALO 3 is by far the best HALO game. Play the game again, now! with or without a friend, and don't be adamant towards it.

1. Halo 4*
2. Halo: CE/Anniversary
3. Halo: Reach
4. Halo 3
5. Halo 2

Not played the other two, but recently bought ODST so I'll see what it's like soon. Not really interested in Wars - RTS never did it for me.

* though I feel its campaign is only so powerful because of getting to know Chief and Cortana so well in the first 3 and the novels etc.

Halo 3
Halo Reach
ODST
Halo 4
Halo Wars
Halo 2
Halo:CE

ODST IS SO UNDERRATED, YEAH IT WAS SHORT BUT THE CAMPAIGN HAD HUGE SET PIECES. halo wars was well made but didn't live up to the hype multiplayer was AWESOME though.

reply

1. Halo 2 (solid entertainment, built on what CE lacked and cut out the bad)

2. ODST (The MUSIC and the FEEL. This game was just so cool and the characters were great. I started to miss the elites, but in the end it showed you didn't have to play as chief)

3. Halo 4 (a good way to start a new story, spartan ops has been a great addition too)

4. Halo C.E./Anniversary (it holds up, what more can I say? oh yeah, MAGNUM!)

5. Halo 3 (Short, tied up a lot but didn't add anything exceptional)

6. Halo: Reach (Looked great, felt great, story fell flat along with the characters)

7. Halo Wars (love the genre but this one doesn't have replayability like C&C games)

reply

I don't really play much online (or offline, for that matter) multiplayer, so the campaign is really the only thing about Halo that appears to me. That being said, Halo has some of the greatest campaigns in video game history in my opinion.

1. Halo: Combat Evolved
2. Halo 3
3. Halo 4
4. Halo: Reach
5. Halo 2
6. Halo 3: ODST

I love all of them, though, I would put Halo 2 on almost the same pedestal as Halo 4.

An older thread, but timeless question. And since I just got and finished 4, I'll jump in.

It's hard to weed out transitory feelings or prejudices based on graphics, platform and glitches, but if you equalize for things like HD and graphics:

1) Halo 2
2) Halo 1 (CE)
3) Halo 3
4) Halo: Reach
5) Halo 4

I'm a little undecided about 4 and Reach, but those two have to be the bottom two, for me. I rank 4 a little lower because of the stupid-but-tough enemies, some of the gameplay foibles (shields slow as molasses, lack of dual-wield, the "new" weapons being exactly like the old) and its linear, more predictable nature (you knew where you were supposed to take many of the shots, e.g.)

I'm giving 2 a huge concession because of the non-ending, but I enjoyed its gameplay more than any other, if you combine combat with the interesting landscapes, and it seemed to build nicely on some of what I would have liked to see in CE. It just seemed more intelligent and imaginative in many ways.

CE is a classic and has an incredibly re-playable campaign.

I was a bit disappointed in 3, but after I played it a bit, it was a solid game with well-tuned gameplay. Too bad 343 ignored what Bungie learned.

I haven't played ODST yet, so naturally it's not in the rankings.
