Like The Man From Nowhere But Ramped Up To 11

This has a ton of twists and turns, and it can be a little difficult to wrap all of the plot points together to fully understand what the entire story is all about, but it's done well enough at a good enough pace where there's no problem sweating the small stuff.

It's definitely similar to The Man From Nowhere -- the original stoic killer movie that kicked off copy-cats in the form of John Wick and all other variations thereafter (both in the West and in the East when it comes to action films).

The big difference is that this film definitely goes for more flash and panache over plot and finical story elements. But what flash and panache that is there is done really well. The action scenes escalate throughout the film, and get better and better, and the final showdown is definitely cheer-worthy.

I know some people complain about the opaqueness of the story details and having to piece together the broader scope of what's going on, rather than getting all of the bits and pieces together like in Midnight Runners or The Man From Nowhere, but I was fine with that. The thing that impressed me most about this film is Jang Hyuk's bada$$ stoicism.

We get so few movies these days with just no-nonsense masculine heroes. They are almost always upended or undermined by a female character at some point, to which it becomes a laborious task just to try to suspend disbelief to enjoy the film.

None of that was present here.

Jang dispenses violence in equal opportunity fashion and with skilled excellence. He looks and moves like the kind of cold-blooded killer he's supposed to be portraying. He has that nice svelte build so his movements look sharp and clean, and the execution of his strikes are pristine. I was also thoroughly impressed with the post-credit scenes where it shows he did pretty much all of his own stunts in the film, which was really, really impressive.

Definitely a film well worth watching if you just want a bad-to-bone, bada$$ film similar to The Man From Nowhere, The Suspect, or The Company Man.
