Is this like...?

No there is no gore, a surrealistic vibe, interesting characters and a complex but great story. Recommended.

It's closer to Midsomnar than anything else (although Midsomnar didn't exist when this movie came out)

it's been a few years since i watched this, and my memory of it has almost completely faded, but my letterboxd review tells me it really reminded me of dogtooth.

if you like that sort of lanthimos-ie strangeness, you'll probably find things to enjoy in here.

i don't think it had much (if any) violence in it. i might give it a re-watch tonight, since you've planted the idea in my head...
