Saffron?
Am I really the only one who loved Saffron Burrows' character in the Bones episode? I cant imagine the studio dropping an actor and an entire character over an accent.

shareNo Ike? What a rip-off!! I loved her in the backdoor pilot on Bones!

Bobby Singer: Well, if you're going to be stupid, you might as well be smart about it.
She was the best in the movie Deep Blue Sea. I still remember her electrocuting that shark in her bra and panties. On another note, she was canned on Law and order CI and now this show. On L and O I wondered why they would not go back to the split episodes like they did with Wheeler and Chris Noth. She may be hard to get along with off camera or maybe they just did not want to use her as they are using the actress they have now. The new actress is certainly no drop off.
The new actress is a better female specimen than Saffron and they simply may have given her the nod on that alone since she and the lead are friends with benefits and a lot of skin is anticipated.
OMG, Saffron was in a film years ago called Hotel De Love. It was an sweet, independent, romantic comedy from Australia and Saffron must have been about twenty-two. I was in love!

There were a gazillion comments made about the characters accent during the pilot and she will not be returning.

Producers giving "fans" what they don't even before the series begin? That smells like a recepy for disaster!
shareI still intend to give the series a try, but Saffron's replacement is really going to have to shine to provide the same spark. She's not a familiar name (besides Saffron I'd only heard of Duncan) and her substitution better be pretty well justified by her performance. Else, it'll be lights out.
shareI agree. Watched "Criminal Intent" with Jeff Goldblum just for her and JG quit and she got dumped. Now I was all set for her in this and they dumped her before it even aired. I think they maid her play the character with that awful accent. Almost as if they wanted the character to go away. I'm not saying she didn't want to do the series but it sure is suspicious.

Her character along with Duncan's was the best, I didn't really like the main character at all, lol, he was kind of annoying. Not sure if I'll even watch it now that she's not there. I thought her accent was cool.
Cowgirl Up!
Agreed. She was the best character.
"I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."
I loved Saffron's character. She did really stand out. And loved the accent.
shareI'm confused at what the problem was with her accent, she's from London so she has a british accent, it's not weird, that's how she talks. I wish they hadn't replaced her.
shareThe accent was overdone and irritating, glad she's gone.
shareShe was speaking with a heavy cockney accent, her real accent does not sound like that. Google some interviews with her on youtube.
shareJust because somebody is from London, it doesn't mean they have a Cockney accent.

I found her personality winning, and enjoyed her misuse or mispronunciations of $5 words
shareYeah I was going to give this show a shot but when I noticed Saffron was gone, it bummed me out. The 2 replacement ladies are already boring me.
shareI am bummed she's not in it. I thought the accent brought something to the show. Besides she's easy on the eyes.
shareI think the two new females are a large step down from Saffron (or at least, from Ike).
Halfway through the first episode I was hoping "generic cute blonde" really was going to run away, and the sooner (and farther) the better. She must be 'dating' one of the producers because she sure doesn't add much to the plot.
Agreed they could have toned down the over-the-top cockney accent and still had a more interesting character for the writers to work with than the blase blase replacements. I also liked the possibilities of the Danny Trejo character going totally against type as a Catholic Bishop.
Boils down to already having an established actor in Duncan and probably not wanting to ante up for other established talent. I think the producers will be proven to be pennywise and pound foolish on this one.
I am so disappointed that they did not have Ike! I loved her character in the Bones episode too. These two they have added just aren't cutting it. I know it has only been two episodes but they are just not cutting it as a replacement for her. This one of those times when 2 isn't better than 1. I have a bad feeling the show won't make it for a long run if they don't step up these characters personality and interaction with "Walter" & "Knox".
