If it is based on a book, it must be by Carol Higgins Clark as I have all novels by MHC.
Does somebody know the title of the book or was this only made for TV?

Yes Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter have a series of books with these characters.

The book that 'Deck of Halls' came from was the first collaboration between mother and daughter. I'm glad I caught this TV movie at last.
