Richard Watterson=Chris Farley?

I thought about it when I saw Tommy Boy on TV the other day. Had Chris Farley lived, and there was a live-action adaptation of The Amazing World of Gumball, he would've made a good Richard? Both Richard Watterson and Chris Farley in Tommy Boy (and really, his comedic persona in general dating back to SNL), are these overweight, well-meaning, near-do-wells/man-children.
