Evidently I'm the only person...

Alive who thought this movie sucked! Acting was good, but the film was a snoozefest. I remember after watching it that I was disappointed because I thought it would become intersting toward the end. Just a completely boring and dull movie.

I didn't like the movie. I thought there were too many things that were just unbelievable. The acting was good.

Brideshead is A Thousand Moments
Dolores Craeg is a phony.

reply

How could anyone not think the movie sucked?

The plot was pure cheese, the script was banal and the final shootout was ludicrous.

There was no intelligence to this movie, it had nothing to say about anything. I want my two hours back.

reply

I enjoyed it but I thought it was too slow at points, I didn't LOVE it, I only liked some parts of it. It does not deserve the 98% it has on Rotten Tomatoes...

i wish the ring had never come to me.

reply

I don't think it sucked, but it's not as strong as Jeff Nichols's previous films. Check out Shotgun Stories and Take Shelter. Both are excellent.

reply

It only has a 7.5 on IMDB so obviously you're not the only one.

I can see why people wouldn't like the movie.

Personally though, it was some of the best acting and writing I've seen in a movie post 2002 or so. I was damn near brought to tears at the end when seeing Mud and his "father" riding off in the boat.

Also it was the best acting from child actors I have ever seen, I usually can't stand child actors but the two in this film did as good a job as any adult.

Morever, in an era where every single movie in the theatres is either based on a book, a sequel/prequel, or a movie adaptation of a novel/tv series - I always find it refreshing to see an original film come out in theatres.

. Agree with you though the movie's narrative is clearly influenced by the Mark Twain stories. It's an interesting modern take though.

Several themes/scenes which just lacked plausibility factor but biggest was shoot out: I just cannot buy that a group of paid bounty hunters would launch a full scale all out shoot-out on a home knowing at least one (if not 2) young boys, a mother and innocent father were in the house and then, through it all only the bounty hunters were injured or killed. But over-all it was ok.

I had never heard of this movie but my brother in law who is huge movie buff suggested we see it while he was in town. I liked but it's not great. IMO. I mainly wanted to see it after I found out it was filmed in Arkansas. We live in Oklahoma &I have been through that part of Arkansas many times. I have always liked seeing where a movie was actually filmed. Anyway, the one thing I wanted to comment on that I see so much on this type of boards is this. I do not understand how people can be so immature as to critize another's opinion just because it doesn't agree with theirs! We are all humans but we are not all the same or think alike. It would be very boring if we were. Come on people, GROW UP!! Treat people in the way you want to be treated & have some respect!
