Sixpack in those times? Laughable

I get it, people like to look at guys with sixpacks but in those times even the strongest heroes didn't have sixpacks :)

They looked more like cgi sixpacks How vile.

They did have sixpacks. People in ancient times worked out like crazy.

What is "modern" about six packs? Why couldn't people in ancient times have them????

Almost all the ancient Greek and Roman statues of men have six packs which goes to show that they did.

And you know right some people don't even need to train to have visible abs? Some people have a naturally very fast metabolic rate and low body fat so they have a six pack just like that.

And it is likely that gladiators who did weight training the entire day and lots of running would end up with six packs.

What works today would work in ancient times too.

Didn't you know that muscles are a recent development in human evolution? And, clearly, the Greeks and Romans didn't have the advanced technology needed to do sit-ups or core-building exercises. ;)

Part of the reason people have to workout these days is because we lead a life where we do not have physical labour, we move in cars we have runnign water in the house, washing machines, vaccuum cleaners dishwashers, food processors etc etc.

In the old days people were much fitter, more regular exercise, more labour, getting water, washing, food preparation, etc.
Gladiators were on a strict diet for increasing strength, not fat.... Sugar was not known yet,...
And for wielding a heavy sword and shields you need a lot of core power..
Fighting hand to hand combat, day in day out, is like the workout for boxers with weights.
Remember it was their life... not necessarily fights to the death but if you were not a good fighter aka winning a lot you would go to the galleys..

The older we get the harder it is to remember details. Maybe they did have them and you just don't remember.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Romans and Greeks loved exercising. It was one of their hobbies.

yeah the OP just doesn't know what he's talking about. I had a six pack similar to that in High School and 1st year university, before I ever started lifting weights. I was lean and played soccer, football, basketball and ran track for my HS, then played rugby in university. You don't need a modern weight training regime or countless crunches to have abs, just a low body fat and a decent amount of muscle.

Maybe Roman slaves did a lot of sit-ups when they were on break.

- or so the Germans would have us believe...
