The fighting became meaningless

Seriously, how many times do you have to punch or kick a man before you conclude they have no impact and are therefore ineffective? That last fight just wouldn't end.

Touche. At least the Rocky fight was charged with emotion.

I have to agree, the film set off well but the final parts just became boring imo, one on one combat kicking each other around for several minutes just doesn't do it for me anymore. Disappointing film.

Yes, I was thinking that no human could survive all the punches and kicks these guys received AND STILL keep fighting extremely fast. No human in real life could fight like that for such a long time.

Well, I'm pretty sure those boxing matches went differently than the fights seen in the film, with a lot of blocking, grabbing and holding involved. I'm pretty sure nobody could survive the fights seen in this movie for how long they went on.

Does it make no sense or do you not like to see your beloved movie denigrated? Perhaps you should take a time out.

I have to agree, i mean it's ok movie, but the last few fights were too much. Those fast action scenes (right after they axed the floor as far as i remember) with knifes , brutal headshots in the middle of the fight and a bit of martial arts were 10/10.

Yeah, the fight was just pointlessly wrong. The hero also suddenly forgot to fight good enough and was fighting average to prolong the fight even more.

Watch the real life original MMA fights, they didn't even last minutes most of the time.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read on IMDB, since last 10 minutes.

Next time, watch the movie instead of jacking it.

Well it'd be a pretty dull fight if the bad guy went down in 1 or 2 punches

reply

I agree. The action was only good until they ran out of bullets. I don't understand the appeal of these unrealistic kung fu fist fights.

Amen!

I got really sick of how long the fights dragged on. Great fight scenes are terrific, but there is a certain truth to the saying "less is more." This was way, way, way overdone. It's actually a problem with a lot of martial arts scenes in movies today, but this movie was a particularly bad offender in this regard, with a fight that dragged on way too long, combatants taking way too many hits to no effect, and (even aside from the lack of damage) the fighters going on way too long after they'd have been completely exhausted and barely able to stand up, and the whole thing looking far too overly stylized and graceful. Real fights -- life and death ones anyway -- are usually short and brutal. Now I realize you don't want the fights too short, particularly in a martial arts movie, where the fighting is part of the attraction, but come ON... there has to be a way to get closer than this.

I had no issue with the long ending fight - it's a mindless entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. However, I do agree with whoever mentioned above about the hero suddenly "forgetting" how to fight and getting his ass handed to him repeatedly! That really annoyed me. I mean, how does he go from being an EPIC badass - mowing down hoards of bad guys coming at him left and right - to getting the living crap beat out of him & needing his brother to save him from certain death?!
