This was such a hidden Gem !!

First I will start out as I'm not the biggest Statham fan, or not much of one until I actually gave his films a watch the last few years. That being said I found them to be fun but like that ran one into the next with the same old story and all.
Finally when I saw Redemption or Hummingbird (whichever you want to call it lol) I was really blown away at it. Not only was it not like anything Statham has done before (like act in a serious drama with a different plot than the rest) but I found myself watching it again a few days later. Now that I'm more of a fan I've watched quite a few of his films and although really fun, nothing to this particular film.
The story was very well written and the acting was pretty much perfect. I hope Statham does more of these kinds of films (Homefront was one that I enjoyed) like this. Since I first watched it a few years ago in Netflix I've seen it probably 4 or 5 times. Excellent film and should be rated with at least a solid 7.. I gave it an 8 and would highly recommend it to Statham fans and ones who just think it's like The Transporter type films with only fights and not much in the line of plots. This is very different and as Statham is a good actor this really shows a lot more to what he's capable of doing in other films to come!!

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

Agreed, this is something different. I've always known the guy can act, but he demonstrates here, that he is more than capable of just performing in "action" roles. It was really quite an interesting story, though I don't think the regular Statham fan boys would have been all that appreciative.🐭

I agree.

Action movies aren't generally my thing, but I like Jason Statham. (I really like that one with Ben Foster.) So I just put this on for background noise while I was doing some computer work--yeah, yeah, war zone, bad karma expiated by championing the abused and downtrodden. . .

But then it started being different, and good, and sad. And by the end, was very poignant and thought-provoking.

The only thing is, how would anyone know this would be any different from any other movie featuring one beatdown after another? I think Statham's fan base isn't going to be thrilled with the parallels of a nun and a soldier who both have doubts about what they were forced to become, but can't quite extricate themselves from what they're very good at.

So, yes, hidden gem it is, and hidden gem it's likely to stay.

But Statham was excellent and I'm looking forward to whatever he does next.

I enjoy the standard JS beat-em-up movie now and again and I think he's very good at doing what he does. But this film was a bit different, plus Agata Buzek was really interesting, and I thought it was really good. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few more years JS starts producing the kind of performance where all the critics suddenly sit up and say - whoa, this guy's actually a pretty good actor.
