I think people get carried away with the names of the cast, but nothing interesting happens.
Downey and Duvall are great but the movie is just no interesting

Hmm... then why don't you watch movies that are designed to have suspense and twists?
Aren't you aware that not all cinematography is about suspense and twists?
Just what kind of interesting did you expect from a movie about family, character, and ethics? It's kind of unfortunate that these thing bore you so much.
I'm going to ignore the drama here and just say I completely agree with the OP (and many critics) in that without the star power of the actors, this would never have gone beyond an ABC Sunday night movie (or something along those lines). It was just full of cheese, cliches, and awful pacing.

The "it's cliched" critique seems extremely surface level. The movie actually went out of its way to twist several cliches (as has been discussed elsewhere on this board).
And who cares if a movie has "cheese"? I'd rather a bit of personality than bland Nolanisms.

That's what happens when action movies fans watch some drama, and heavy drama in this one. I mean, the bathroom scene is not easy to watch!
I am not against action movies, I love them so much! I love all kind of movies. But, when I watch a drama movie I know its about the movie atmosphere and the tune and it starts kinda slow and bla bla bla, and you know the rest.
In short I mean, you have to expect not so fast pace. The beautiful mind for example, some might call boring, but for me and for many its a masterpiece.
I give this movie an easy 7/10, I liked it, specially the court scenes.

shareI disagree. I absolutely loved it. I had a problem with the dialogue at times (it might have been the subtitles though). Other than that I thought it was a deep, moving drama with lot's of twists and beautiful performances.
For me, it was a cathartic, difficult film. And I loved it!
The only question remains. Will you yield... in time?

Although good to see RDJ, it's over-long, self indulgent and pretty tedious.
As for the son and dad connecting in the courtroom, it was a little much. It's a murder trial for heavens sake.

Didn't bother me. This is hardly the first time a courtroom drama has incorporated family drama into the proceedings. It's a drama, not a documentary.

Totally agree, OP you're not alone. You are on point this movie is a sleepfest. It took almost an hour for the main plot point of the Judge hitting that dude with his car to happen. Sleeper of a movie. Great for insomnia though.
shareI agree with you. There were some moments of good acting but they were lost in an overly-sentimental and sappy movie. I was very disappointed in this movie.
