what's more important: the actor or the story?

I am only two episodes in to season 6. I am thinking they should have just replaced KS and preserved the story. I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that the writers had a conclusion in mind for the series, whether it was season 6, 7 or . . . I think I would have preferred to see the conceptualized story with a different actor.
