Frank is not Donald Trump

Frank's actions and wink wink commentaries to the audience have obvious parallels to Donald Trump. However, in the end his aim was to have "total power" with him working with the "real power" on the outside (private sector) and president Claire as the ultimate government insider. Thus Frank is really the Bill Clinton to Claire's Hillary Clinton. The Clintons are, or were, the only power couple capable of such insidious acts. Perhaps the final message of this show is that the Trumps and the Clintons are, even if superficially different, equally vile.
