Nathan Fillion's comment...

did anyone else laugh out loud when Nathan made that comment about tv shows ended too soon? i did and people looked at me weird. his entire scene was funny as hell. but i thought that line with his delivery was awesome.

reply

Yup!

Another 'Firefly' fan here...

reply

Yeah, I was the only one laughing! I don't think anyone else got it (which is not strange I guess, since I saw it in Europe)

"Alone is what I have. Alone protects me."
"No. Friends protect people."

reply

Ah, yes, Browncoats are a rare breed in European countries (I saw it in Finland).

reply

Are they? They aren't that uncommon here in the UK ... or maybe it's just the sort of people I'm friends with. :)

I hope Hermes is in more of the books.

reply

He's great.

reply

I haven't seen Firefly (I know, I really should and want to) but I got the comment right away and laughed. I think I was one of very few who did.

reply

Me and my friends were the only two laughing. That line is pure gold.
Firefly - still flying!

reply

I laughed, and my daughter looked at me and laughed too. She's too young to remember Firefly or know of the Nathan Fillion connection though, so I'm sure she was thinking of Terra Nova or something that she thinks was canceled too soon.

reply

Never watched Firefly but I know about it and its fate. I'm the only one who chuckled it's actually awkward.

Anybody recall the actual name of show Nathan Fillion/Hermes was talking about? It had "Hercules" in the title, I think, but I'm not sure of the complete wording.

reply

Hercules Busts Heads. It's the same in the book.

Hercules Busts Heads. Greatest show ever, so of course, cancelled.

There were only 20 or so people in the theater when my wife and I took the kids to see the move, everyone in the theater laughed, it was a nice feeling to be surrounded by browncoats.

God invented boobs to make men happy, but Adam pissed him off so he attached them to women.

reply

I got it and laughed but everyone else in the theater was about 12 years old so I don't think the know what Firefly is

reply

One of the highlights of the movie (along with Alexandra's eyes).

My wife and I both chuckled.
She's not OBSSESSED with Nathan Fillion and Firefly, like I am, both we also enjoy Castle now.

Firefly... never will there be it's equal Again, I will never truly get over it.

reply

Anybody else catch the "It's cute the way you two finish each others sentences"
I too am a fan of both Firefly and Castle.

reply

Yeah, I wonder if he came up with that or the script writers, as far as I know, all the Firefly references in Castle are not his idea.

reply

It really could be either one. I've heard the same thing about Castle, so the Sea of Monsters script writers could have slipped it in. Or it could have been an improv that he slipped in himself.

Did anyone else think even his way of speaking was reminiscent of Mal? Things like "rude-like" and another thing he said (which sadly I have forgotten). I was laughing pretty much the entire time he was on screen. And his little comment about how of course the best shows get cancelled had me laughing (albeit quietly) pretty much until his scene was over.

I got it, and a young couple behind me laughed at the line too. But I was also thinking, "Enough, Nathan. Let it go." I loved Firefly, but I don't want to be expecting a Firefly in-joke every time I see Nathan.

reply

I definitely did as well. His character was my favorite in the movie. Every line he had was hilarious. Proving there is no such thing as small roles, only small actors.
