The horse

I'm just curious about the gray horse, he's probably the most beautiful horse I've ever seen in a film. Do we know his name?

(Or did they use more horses to play him in the film?)

reply

He's credited as "Listo," which is actually his nickname - he's Novelisto D, an Andalusian stallion who's 15 this year. I believe there were a couple of "stunt double" geldings, but he's the primary one.

Great, thanks. He's lovely!

I thought he was also a beautiful horse, and now understand the Guardian Angel aspect.

I liked the horse but the goof with the bridle is really annoying.
In the first section of the movie it has on a modern bridle without a flash but with a flash attachment and a modern style bit. When I got used to the bridle and the idea that a lot of things in this movie are out of place, they change the bridle in the second section to an old style bridle without noseband and an old bit.
In the scene with the Peter, the Gamelys and Pearly are on the ice, the horse then changes bridle from one scene to another. Come on!
It's just sloppy and makes me think that the people making this movie, just don't care for details and that's why a movie that potentially could be good, is leaving me with a feeling that something is missing.
But anyway I would see it again, just because of Colin Farrell and Jessica Findlay.

It bothered me that he had a bridle and saddle at all - Athansor would not have submitted to such things. He should've been ridden bareback and bridleless.

reply

did anyone else besides me, when Colin Farrell scooped up Jessica Brown Findlay onto the horse and then jumped off the cliff and the horse flew, start singing

Look at my horse, my horse is amazing
give it a lick, it tastes just like raisins
Have a stroke of its mane, it turns into a plane
and then it turns back again when you tug on its winky
Oooh, that's dirty!

"Enough of that technical talk, Foo!"

reply

Thought it was fun seeing Colin with a white horse, much as he had in Ballykissangel.
