Your realtor shouldn't do your reno

The brothers have two businesses: acting as real estate agents and doing renovations. That creates a conflict of interest, because they'll have an incentive to feed their home buyers into their reno business. If you're looking for a house, they're going to want to guide you toward properties that need major renovation, so that they can cross-sell their reno services to you.

The buyers should separate their house hunting from the reno process (if any). If they decide on their own to buy a fixer-upper, then they should shop around for someone to the reno.

I realize it's the premise of the show. My point is that if this is what they do IRL, it doesn't make sense from the client's perspective.

Jonathan does not charge for the renovation services and Drew does not charge a commission as a realtor and production actually kicks in $10,000 towards the reno so in actuality the couples are actually saving money.

There is no conflict. They have one business- making a TV show.

Yeah, it's all contrived and scripted.

right cause when they show Jonathan doing "work" he is always clean and pretty.. not dirty...
