If you're a sheep say 'BAAA'

Honestly can't see why so many people dislike this movie other than the fact that there aren't any sex scenes, nudity, or bombs galore. I thought this movie was great, it had good dialogue, and I loved the plot line.

If you haven't seen it and you're curious just listen to yourself and go for it and make up your own mind about it. Or you can get back in line with the herd.

"It's so simple a six year old could figure it out."
"Quick! Someone get a six year old!"

Maybe it's the fact that the story was very uninspiring, since we've seen similar a million times?

Aside from something as unimportant as the story, where did the $130 mil
budget go? I've seen better ship interiors on multiple television shows. Same with the Ursa creature.

For what we saw on screen this movie's budget should have been half of what it was.

Yeah I can think of at least a million films where they've crash landed on a future Earth, and have to take supplements to help breathe. At least a million.

Mr. Laurio, never trust a beautiful woman. Especially one who's interested in you.

reply

There was nothing "Earthy" about it so it's no different from any other sci fi crash landings. And the supplements both made no sense (why would Earth's air not be breathable if mammals thrived there?) and inconsistently used. So if you haven't seen those two exact elements in a movie, you've seen almost the same thing but dont better or with more sense.

A lot of the money in these expensive movies goes towards the salary of the megastars, in this case, Will Smith.

The dialogue was good, is that a joke? Did you miss the line where Jaden says "I like it it but I think it's bad" that was one of the worst lines I have ever heard in my life, not to mention all the horrible techno babel. The story is even worse.

I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

The line is a stupid one, and yes, I agree you could see a teen saying it.

But here's the problem - a stupid line in a movie can work if it's delivered well. Consider "Star Wars" when C3P0 asks what to do if storm troopers come knocking on the door of the command room in the Deathstar where he and R2D2 are. Luke says something like "Don't open the door." and then Han says, "And hope they don't have blasters."

That's a stupid line - "And hope they don't have blasters." Harrison Ford is even on record talking about the stupid lines he had to deliver for that movie and how Lucas wouldn't let him change any. (Lucas did let Sir Alec Guinness change a line or two, but reputedly no one else.) But the line worked because Ford delivered it well from a fully fleshed out character he created.

When Jaden delivered the line the he sounded like someone reading from a script and rushing the line because he wanted to get it out before he forgot it.

"I've got a bad feeling about this."

reply

Lucas gave Ford a career. He should just shut up and thank him for it.

The funny thing about sheep is that they all say the same thing, yet none of them have any intelligence. Does saying the same thing make them correct? I'd say no.

This movie wasn't great, but it was nowhere near as bad as people are making out.

Mr. Laurio, never trust a beautiful woman. Especially one who's interested in you.

reply

Wow. You're a sheep if you share the same opinion as the majority? No you're not, who cares if you have the same feelings towards something as the majority of the public. You liked it or didn't think it was awful, good for you. Glad you liked it. I hated it. The plot was unoriginal, the script was poor, the cinematography was poor, the acting from everyone was dyer and I'm not going to label Wills son as a bad actor as he has proven himself as a decent actor, everyone was terrible in this film. Including Will Smith who was boring and emotionless and yes, I know the idea behind his character was not to show any emotion but it was boring. The whole film was boring. No one cares about sex scenes in movies or car chases or what not. They don't make you like a movie. I liked say Blue Valentine because the acting was good, the story was good, the directing was good, the characters were likeable and relatable. I didn't like it because oh it had one or two sex scenes, I could hardly care less, so does everyone else who isn't immature. Like I said at first, you liked the movie and that's great for you, but don't call everyone a sheep because most people hate what you like.

Good post ... I like the movie though ;-)

But all great movies have lots of sex scenes, nudity, and bombs galore!
If you don't like that stuff, you are just another sheep.
