Am I The Only One Who Didn't See What The Big Deal Was?

I mean, there are plenty of legends in music who are awful people, but people still play their music. I mean seriously, Sid Vicious murdered his girlfriend and yet he & the Sex Pistols are still idolized and their music is considered some of the best in history. Plenty of other great musicians are woman beaters, child molesters, drug addicts, prostitutes, etc. . . It just rings hollow that in rock music people would freak out so badly. And if anything, the fact that he was playing the songs of a murderer seems like it would've just brought more people in to watch them out of morbid curiosity ,just like when Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails rented the Tate-Labianca murders house to record music in. All these people on their soapbox just seemed fake to me.
