I HATED Dana! She was an annoying little *beep*! She tries to be the voice of reason, but she was always so melodramatic! I was waiting for her to be shot in the face, but unfortunately that never happened.

Did not hate Dana character. She was little annoying, but she was cute. She was confused and in hurt about her father.

Omg. Yes. She was super annoying and so dam whiny! I hated that they focused on her so much in season 3.

shareIt boggles my mind how anyone can hate Dana and not hate the narcissistic, hysterical, selfish, emotional, irresponsible and outright awful Carrie even more.
shareI hated Dana too. Dana was a brat who just whined and pouted constantly. Clearly Dana was a brat but I guess that was the point of the character. She consistently treated her mother like crap too.
But the true reason I hated Dana was because she got too much screen time in Season 3!
Season 3 was really a lousy season in my view. Dana was the kid that the writers focused on, while Brody's son got no storylines at all. If the writers wanted to show the trauma of his homecoming, why not explore the whole family dynamic?
I, too, also hate Carrie. In my opinion, the true reason why her character sucks is that irrespective of her mental illness, Carrie would still treat people poorly.
I think that even if the character was NOT bipolar, she would still possess the characteristics you have attributed to her. Now those characteristics may not be as pronounced if she wasn't bipolar but I think those traits would still be in her nature.
I read that her character is a controversial heroine and that does seem like an apt description.
I hate the character but don't deny she is heroic (always reckless and heroic at the same time!).
Dana is stupid and I fucking hate her, I just wish someone would bitchslap that little brat.
The low point for me was the scene in the CIA safehouse in season 2:
She was pouting, throwing her hands in the air like she's high on meth, then to top it all off throws the milk on the floor.
I immediately had a flashback of The Room. Tommy Wiseau level bad.
This is why Americans is much better show, the Parents do not put up with teenage angst and bitchslap their children back into obedience.
