Cannot understand this film ratings.

Simply cannot get into reason how another piece of trash like The Hunger Games gets a 7.x average while this one has less than half. Is it Xenofobia?

The level of characters, plot, cinematography and tension of Sofia is as least equal if not better than Hunger Games. Sofia probably wins in plot predictability and character credibility.

I know Hunger Games is for teens but even so, I cannot accept all the raters are under 14.

Perhaps this film doesnt rate over 5, but c'mon, 1 & 2? Give me a break! There's much worse crap going around here with 8 & 9 ratings,

Bwahahahaha! This movie is excrement from the buttocks of a diseased skunk! Hunger Games is not a great movie, but this crap makes it look like The Deer Hunter!

Are you serious? I just finished to watch it and it was one of the worse movies that I have seen... The plot is miserable as the acting. Unless that you have some cousin related with the movie, I real cannot understand your point of view!

reply

you can not blame the acting, the actors are professionals!
slater and sutherland are great actors.
now the movie it self mite be *beep* the script etc. but not the lead actors

I suspect that he/she has been struck by lightning on the head.

Hunger Games has what to do with this flick again? Hey, while we're at it, how come Star Wars has such a great rating but Leonard Part 6 gets trashed?

Don't talk about Leonard Part 6....Its an underrated piece of cinematic history.

"You are tearing me apart, Lisa!"" The Room..a cinematic masterpiece.

I really liked this movie.

I just watched the movie and I know I'm replying to an older message, but still...

The movie didn't really suck as bad as I thought it might. Okay, it's not great, but it's actually not *that* bad. I rated it 5, so it's somewhere in that "meh" range. If it hadn't been free on Netflix I definitely wouldn't have bothered, but it was interesting filler on a rainy day with not much else going on. Know what I mean?

I think some negative reviewers are maybe misinformed, here and there. Like it was weird to see some of the reviews commenting about how Bulgaria isn't really like it's depicted in the movie. As if that person was unaware it was actually filmed there. With a lead actress/producer/writer from, yes, Bulgaria.

Anyway... I can understand that it's not a great movie, but the one-star-raters seem to be going a little extra harsh on it for some reason. Maybe because it depicts Muslims in a bad light, which I know isn't really PC in films these days, and the director is Israeli? Just guessing, I have no idea, but it's a bit odd.

I agree. It's no cinematic masterpiece, but I thought it was interesting. I also liked seeing locales and culture that don't get everyday exposure in the US. Flame me all you want, but I gave it a rating of six. Maybe the movie drew the action/adventure crowd, and they missed the subtleties of some of the characters. I really liked Donald Sutherland's character, how he was complaining about his posting and that he was better at selling cars, when in fact he was a mastermind in the plot. I was actually telling people about Swordfish after hearing the plot of this movie, and how a post 9/11 movie about someone killing terrorists would be about "the good guys."
