are we supposed to find Brandy unattractive?

Interesting question. Ask yourself this: how often do you actually see an unattractive girl star in a movie? Let alone in a romance movie? She's supposed to look plain, but obviously still hot. Same as any nerdy or "unattractive" character in a romance storyline like Kate Micucci or Alyson Hannigan.

The girl in Orange County wasn't pretty. But she wasn't the lead, either. But this movie had people saying she wasn't attractive I guess because she was small up top...? I don't know but she was fine to me.

I did sixty in five minutes once...

I thought it was funny that brandy was actually the best looking girl out of the three friends. Her two friends were always saying how much sex they have but they were both way below average looking. Brandy hadn't even been to second base yet and she was actually pretty and had a slender body so I thought it was funny how they swappped it around.

I think she's more inocent and sexually awkward rather than unatractive.

Don't worry, Aubrey Plaza is VERY pretty.

Shes supposed to be dorkish and naive and academically focused not necessarily unattractive. You cant make a successful Hollywood movie with a truly unattractive lead actress. Especially one where the whole plot is about that lead character getting laid. So they get an attractive actress who isnt a bomb shell so they can dork her up just enough and make jokes about how she has no boobs and thats the extent of her "ugliness". So shes not a geek because shes ugly, shes a Hollywood geek. You notice she starts out very plain looking but theres a slow and subtle change in how she acts, how she dresses, her vocabulary, even certain camera angles and changes in lighting are used as she gains sexual experience and they want the audience to accept the concept that a clueless virgin nerd could so easily get guys wanting a piece of her like they do.

It was her personality that made her unattractive,then she spends the rest of the movie growing on you and winning over the audience.

I don't think she was supposed to be physically unattractive. She was just one of those girls in school who were very focused on grades and being "the best" in everything... she didn't have time to focus on guys. At least that's the impression I get.

Way too attractive for her having sex to be a significant accomplishment. If she was a little pudgy or something we could root for her to find someone but she's just a super cute girl who hadn't decided to have sex yet and then she decides to and she does. She could have had sex at any point with just about anyone. That's why these 'teen losing virginity' movies don't work with attractive women as the leads.
