i dont understand
the dr/expert guy seem to thing that the young girl had schizophrenia but how does he account for the telekinesis/moving objects, her eyes going white, the disenbodied voices etc

The way I look at it is that the doctor was clearly wrong about his explanation.
He had his mindset on what it was and he wasn't about to budge.
I like the movie and liked his character but that was a flaw with him in my opinion. Either it was intentional on the part of the script or it was a failure on the actors part to convey what he was experiencing during those scenes.
For as much as I liked the movie one thing seemed very off. The doctor's physical response to the things happening around him. During the levatation scene his reaction didn't fit. Come on, how often does anyone see that stuff happening.... yet the doctor casually looked at the camera and said something like "be sure to film this".
He even said it himself: "I've never seen such a strange thing except for one exception or two"
sharewell, as a researcher in the paranormal, one important characteristic is to keep one's head even in the midst of extreme phenomena. he merely did what scientists do in that situation: STAY ON THE DATA. you wouldn't blame volcanologists for staying till the absolute last minute before an eruption, no? or a meteorologist for chasing tornadoes? the poltergeist activity was his "extreme weather data".
what i DO take issue with is how he seemed totally callous about his hosts' safety. the paranormal activity was clearly malevolent (the father had just suffered multiple injuries being thrown thru a door) and yet he tried to stop the father from going to help his daughter. nonetheless, that is just how this doctor was characterised.
