So its the father's fault that his wife cheated?

This movie had a few scares, but the story didn't make any sense. So the father discovers his wife cheating, and takes the kids and runs off. The wife chases him and gets killed in a car accident. Therefore, the wife is pissed because the husband was upset at her cheating??? Does this make sense to anyone?

It was very strongly hinted at that the mom was possessed also. When the dad is relating the story, he says that as her 'illness' progressed she got more and more evil & cruel. At one point, she has a 'twisted smirk' on her face.
Demons' intentions are to break people down, to destroy families.
The mother did all those things under demon influence/repression. She then either killed herself because she was possessed, or to escape the demons.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

I think there was concern about the way he lost control and hit her. He says he hit her once, but his daughter Caitlyn, who was there, was screaming at the time. So the incident probably traumatized her, which explains her behavior toward him. And the incident led the wife to commit suicide. Hence, the father feels guilt, thinking he might have overreacted.
