My 3yr old girl refuses to believe that Rainbow Dash is a girl!
Well, I can sorta relate to your child. When I was young, I thought Merryweather, the blue fairy in Disney's Sleeping Beauty, was a boy. Don't ask me why.
When I saw the first film, I had assumed Swiftheart was male, but in Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland, the White Rabbit says that Swiftheart is "his niece."
Anybody else noticing a pattern here? All of these characters are primarily blue. I do believe color-coding is one of the earliest ways kids try to make sense of the world, and so they tend to very slavishly adhere to the stereotype that blue=boy and pink=girl.
She may not realize it, but I think your daughter is convinced Rainbow Dash is a boy mostly due to the fact that she's mostly blue.
