Is This Really as Grotesque as People Say?

I'm not sure if I should watch this movie, is it really as gory and grotesque as people say? I read the synopsis and Wikipedia, and it does seem to have some extremely vile content in it, but I don't know if that's overstated or not. I'm not a huge horror movie fan, as I don't like to dwell too much on the dark and violent side of existence, but I'll watch them once in a while if they're intense and scary enough. I've seen the Saw series, will I regret it if I see this movie?

reply

Don't watch it

This is sick and demented! Who the hell thinks of ways to kill people. There is a club full of people but not for long. This creeps me out how they come up with ways to mutilate humans. Are we this sick of a society to watch this crap?
I like horror movies, not shock movies. This should have been X rated for the grossness. Avoid at all costs!

You sound certifiable. Do your friends know you are psychotic? If you have any, still living that is.

There's sweet bitterness in you. Don't choke on it though.

this is possibly the goriest movie that I have ever seen.

reply

It's not that bad.

reply

Then you desperately need to watch Peter Jackson's Braindead (1992) (aka Dead Alive). }|;o)

I was like how does dude have time to do all this? This is fiction but there are people doing this now. Saw should have stopped at 3. Yes it is gory!

Chick Flicks Suck! Action movies rock! Horror Rules! Dexter, Criminal Minds, Awesome!

the collection is the goriest horror movie ever, so yes, it is EXTREMELY gory and EXTREMELY grotesque, but I *beep* love this movie lol, I'm a huge gore hound

reply

Though there's a lot of gore in The Collection, I wouldn't go so far to say it's the goriest movie ever. Asian horror films really pack the gore.

reply

What are some good Asian horror movies?, considering the fact that you said they really pack the gore

reply

You like gore? Check out the August Underground movies. Also, A Serbian Film, Inside, Frontier(s), Audition, Grotesque, Men Behind The Sun, and Martyrs.

reply

Meh. A Serbian Film is hyped way too much. It's nastier in concept than it is in execution, and buddy... I saw the uncut version. Again, Martyrs is gut wrenching, but it's not all that gory. Try High Tension instead.

Also-

- Ichi the Killer
- Wrong Turn 2
- Premutos: Lord of the Living Dead
- Anthropophagus
- Guinea Pig: Flower of Flesh and Blood
- American Guinea Pig

I didn't think it was that gory and not scary but everyone has an opinion. Too predictable. Hostel and Saw seemed more sick to me. Hostel, Saw, and The Hills Have Eyes freak me out.

If you have to ask the question in the first place then the answer is certain NO!

The film is quite gory but the violence seems quite over the top to me so I don't really find it as disturbing as I would if it was done in a very realistic way. It also seems to happen fast instead of being drawn out gore. I haven't seen all of the films in the Saw series, but I know a lot about what happens in them and I'd say that there are more things harder to stomach in the Saw films than there are here. I actually like this film a lot more than the first one as though 'The Collector' was a very atmospheric and quite scary well made film, this one is just straight up fun and chaos with more characters, more like a colourful, ridiculously bloody action film.
