What makes Dallas a good person?
In season 2, it seems like characters, especially George and Tessa, would occasionally comment on what a good person Dallas is.
Maybe because I'm watching season 1 now, having missed most of it first time around, and seeing quite a lot of Dallas, I wonder if anyone can shed some light on Dallas' "goodness," because I don't see it.
What I see is a shallow, plastic-looking vapid birdbrain. I'm thinking of her first date with George. When he told her where they were going, she said she didn't want to go eat some meat in a dirty restaurant by the train yard.
I think, compared with her daughter, Dallas is basically harmless, but as I say, I don't see much real good coming out of her either. She represents the worst of suburbia, that's what has been established.
I like the show, a lot, and wish it had been on this fall and am looking forward to its return in a few weeks, but—and I could totally be wrong, I'll admit—it almost seems like lazy writing to have characters remarking what a good person Dallas is rather than have it shown in any meaningful way.
