Speculation that Depp's screentime has been substantially reduced.

After rumors he was difficult, Johnny Depp’s ‘comeback’ movie faces fresh screentime speculation.

...after unsubstantiated stories emerged claiming that director Maïwenn is alleged to have significantly reduced both his screentime and amount of dialogue, which may or may not have anything to do with the fact either he barely speaks a lick of fluent French, or the ongoing speculation (which she didn’t exactly deny) that he’d been a difficult customer during production, which did initially emanate from a celebrity reporter with no connection to the film.

According to the most recent reports, Jeanne du Barry runs for 113 minutes, with Depp only factoring into somewhere between 10 and 15 of them. In addition, he’s said to have very little to say both figuratively and literally, so it could be a case of the would-be comeback being over before it’s even had a chance to get started should he indeed end up being excised from the majority of the film. Then again, he isn’t playing the main character, so his participation amounting to an extended cameo wouldn’t really be all that much of a surprise.

Kind of funny as this is what was rumoured to have happened to Amber Heard (reduced screentime in Aquaman 2).

Quote from the director.

Johnny is a star, a king… and an American! I was told not to let him know that we were waiting for him to shoot a scene, I was not allowed to knock on the door of his dressing room. One day, I did it anyway. And there, he made me understand that I had committed an unacceptable intrusion and asked me how I would have felt if he came knocking on my dressing room door. I replied that everyone does it all the time. Because that’s how a set works in France!”

He was making an effort, even though I could see that it was still confusing to him. I understood that in the United States, the stars don’t really get directed. They explain to the director how they are going to play the scene and the director follows the flow. But in France, the boss is the director. So for every take, I obviously shot his proposals, but I also asked him to interpret my own vision, so we could have a choice during editing. He was game for that.”

Yup, he fucked up his comeback role, and most of his work is rumored to be gracing the cutting room floor!

He could have had a comeback, he could be doing now what Robert Downey Jr. did 10-15 years ago. The man went from Untouchable to the top of the A-List, because he got clean and healthy, took small roles to prove he could show up on time and do a good job, and when he was finally offered a plum role he did an absolutely fantastic job at it! But Depp, he isn't doing any of that, instead he's doing a crap job and ruining his health and his looks.
