Will a straight guy like this movie?

I've heard a lot of good things about this movie, but don't know to watch it or not. I'm not homophobic and as cinephile i have seen some gay themed movies, but if there's too much gay sex and kissing it'll be too irritating for me.
Should i give it a try?

It's one of the thing that's being addressed in the movie. About straight-oriented world we live in.. How is it normal for straight people to talk about sex, straight kissing, straight people holding hands, and just the whole straight romance? How is it "normal" for them, and it is so not for gay people...

You definitely should watch it just coz I think you need another point of view about what it's all about..

reply

I'm interested in whether the OP ever did end up watching it.

reply

No. And gross...

reply

I don't know why is it that most gay people always judge a straight man a homophobic if they said they find gay sex irritating...
Well, I'm gay but i found the sex scene in this movie is quite gross.. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to watch people having sex..

reply

True. But it is a problem if someone is fine watching straight sex in a movie but not gay sex in a movie. Then it's not about not wanting to watch sex, but about being uncomfortable with gay sex, specifically.

I still think that's unfair. I'm straight and I enjoy some pornography but most of it I find gross. I don't like it if the woman has implants or a shaved bikini area, and I don't like when it is violent or degrading or when the action involves the woman's rear end instead of her v----a. I also don't want to see gay porn. I only like to see something that's similar to what I would want to do, personally. What's so weird about that?

Well, I don't think it would kill a straight guy to watch a gay sex scene or two. Think how many straight sex scenes gay people have to sit through. The film is about more than that, so yes, I think any straight guy should be able to enjoy it.

you said you are a cinephile, so you have probably seen way more graphic, sexual stuff on movies. You must have seen some scenes that you would never ever think about being a part of. This shouldn't be any different than those. Nobody has to "like" watching gay sex.

But if watching a brutal rape scene make you feel less irritated than watching a gay scene, then you are probably homophobic.

Homophobia doesn't necessarily mean you "hate" gays.

Anyways, there is nothing threatening your masculinity or straightness in this movie. You don't have to be afraid.

Saw this on DVD last night with my 72YO Father, he didn't flinch one bit. At the end he said "we are all entitled to a bit of love wherever we can get it". Sadly this movie wasn't released in Australia on the cinema circuit, probably "too gay" for the masses, pity as it was a brilliant movie. 4 Stars from this straighty.

I am a straight male and this movie made me weep. It was beautiful.

I'm not homophobic ... but if there's too much gay sex and kissing it'll be too irritating for me.

LoL

If you find two men kissing and having sex "irritating", then perhaps you are homophobic.

WARNING: Viewer discretion is advised. This movie depicts homosexual acts (oral and anal sex and kissing) that may be too irritating for homophobic viewers.
