what the hell is up with the music!?

the songs in the movie don't fit with what's happening on the screen... really weird, and tasteless; *beep* 'adult-alternative' songs are completely out of place with rape and voyeur.

I really liked the music combined with the scenes (especially the scenes with Peg, the older daughter) but have to say that I like the music alone even more - just bought the album from Amazon. I think I'm becoming a fan of that guy named Sean Spillane.

reply

I agree. The music was fantastic! Obviously not for everyone but I really liked it.

I bought the music after my second viewing of the movie. It is fantastic music!

sure you have watched the final theatrical version of the film and not a pirate screener? keep in mind that screener versions often don't feature the actual score music, but "temp tracks" which merely serve as placeholders....

my favorite music:

Distracted

What REally Hurts

JH2

Patient Satellite

Dear Darlin' (not really a fave but it was the last song in the movie)

I agree, I noticed from the first song that something is not quite right, the music is really not fitting with the movie! The soundtrack is really important for a movie, sometimes we don't pay attention but is an very important part.
This soundtrack deserve 1/5.

The music seemed to overpower every scene. At times it felt like a music video from the early to mid 90s, like something from Soul Asylum or Pearl Jam. It wouldn't have been as bad if it was just instrumental, like a musical score instead of a roaring, whinny coffee house band that's been listening to too much Nick Drake. Overall, i thought the movie was pretty good, it's just the music that brings it down.

I agree -- the music did not fit. And NOT in some sort of ironic way; it was annoying to the max. I love to hear indie music that I'd never heard before -- when it enhances a movie. In fact, there have been some movies that I absolutely hated, but enjoyed the music. This was not one of them. The movie was interesting, in an oddball sort of way. But the music was a major distraction, IMO.

The soundtrack was the best part of the movie, except for the teachers legs.... which got eaten apparently.

reply

Are you kidding? The Woman's legs were some of the best I've ever seen...the teacher's legs were toothpicks by comparison. Pollyanna McIntosh is a model and a knockout..I wouldn't give the teacher a second look.

It's true. I actually loled when Chris saw the wild girl for the first time while that pop rock song was playing. It was absolutely unnecessary and didn't fit at all. The man who was responsible for the soundtrack in this movie should hang himself.

That's what actually made me look up the soundtrack. I thought it was great, and there was some theme music in the film, but some of it was just intense odd sounds, like the scene where the father's finger is bitten off.
