I mean, you could tell some of the parts were just computer generated effects. And besides that there would have been more about this on the news if it was real.

The movie was inspired by something that happened like what happened in the movie.
But besides that , the movie is for pure horror and entertainment.
Search for the Asylum on some search engine.
You might fight it.
And they wouldnt release stories like this on the news.
Anyways , it happened before this movie was made.
Maybe more than a few years.

Of course it's not real because it's a film with actors potraying characters. If it was real, then whatever happened to the actors would of been real + it would also be like watching 1 of those ghost hunting programmes on tv, but longer
