The one scene that ruined my life.

Where Christopher Waltz (Alan) is stuffing his face with that peach/pear/apple (I can't remember what it was - the irony) while half grunting/talking on his mobile.

That scene just made me want to vomit. The sounds he was making, the chewing, I just couldn't hack it and for the rest of the film, and so-on, that scene just haunted me. And still does. It made my skin crawl.

And I just hated him after that.

That's all.

Really? i actually like his eating scenes. He eats very enthusiastically and thats what i like, he sure is a man who makes food look appealing when he eats it. Funny how he said afterwards that he hated the pie, didn't look as though he hated it

And yes it also reminded me so much of his Basterds scene, loved the way he ate that pie too. Sorry i sound sad but i've mentioned in other threads and boards that i have a bit of a fetish for watching people eat

Ashmi any question

I loved that scene! I agree with so many people on this tread. I love how he was so casual, and I loved when he snort-laughed. That was too funny! It's funny that I find him very good looking when he eats, because most people doesn't look that appealing when they eat. And Waltz is just so casual and natural about it. Fits his cahracter so well. Also when people eats a pie/cake like that (or a strudel like in "Basterds"), you tend to look the worst. He even makes the food appealing as well! As far as I know, he's the only person I have seen(male, that is) eating and look so good, even when not give a d*mn about it.

I know it's crazy, but I love his accent while he's eating. Same for Inglorious Basterds

Yeah, I have to agree with the OP. I wouldn't say it ruined my life (!), but I was watching at home, and had to walk away until he took his feedbag off. Funny-gross part was that he was doing it over the phone, into some poor schmuck's ear! I have a friend who eats like that, and I always make sure to sit as far away from her as possible when we're at dinner together.

It's actually a hard things to do, acting while eating. I've heard other actors talk about it in interviews. It's not so much doing it that's the hard part. If you make a mistake, you then have to remember the exact things you'd just eaten and in what order etc. The more takes, the more food you're eating and if you don't do the takes the same it wont be able to be edited together well enough either. It can get quite complicated.

I found that scene fitting for the character of Alan. He doesn't give a *beep* therefore doesn't care how obnoxious he is. lol

the intention was to make you hate him so it was therefore very successful
