7.1, not gonna pretend I'm shocked, but that's bs

Good acting, but that alone doesn't justify such a high rating for a film.

I guess it's that, Polanski's name and people who can't tell good from bad that makes it.

The problem with this film is that it was anti-climactic and predictable.

After about 10 minutes you knew what would happen. They would never leave that apartment and their "true" selves would soon come out. A satirical note about modern day parenting alone can't make a whole movie.

Not garbage at all, but unoriginal and not clever in any way.

I just finished re-watching it for the 4th time now (on Oct 27th 2016) and it held steady. it's got laughs which ultimately carry the movie and i like the whole concept of it being pretty much in one room the whole movie, which makes it something different. the cast helps sell the laughs to. about the only somewhat negative thing i can say is Jodie Foster is a bit over dramatic at times but i can easily overlook it given the overall enjoyment/laughs i had throughout the movie as each character had their moments.

7/10 ; which makes it within my Top 210 movies in general. it's also within my Top 10 movies of 2011.

p.s. The OP obviously must not think all that much of the laughs of the movie as that's where it shines as it easily beats the vast majority of comedies out there as this is one of the few that stand out. it's not about being predictable etc etc as this movie is about laughs and it does that well. but like i always say, most movies are not about doing something new but about taking a idea that's already been done and doing it well.
