i just don't get how people can still work with/defend this guy? you can give me the line that he was never prosecuted, but thats *beep* never had his day in court because he fled. genious or not....what he did was WRONG. i will never see a polanski film.

I support your position. I don't understand people who think talent excuses crime, especially this sort of crime.

People are *beep* up.

Your choice is yours, and I'm not trying to "convert" anyone, but if I learned anyone I know or just met support this rapist in ANY way, they'd be erased from my internal contacts list as well as any other ones that they might appear on.

And if I found out anyone I knew or just met did this just for seeing a film, I would do the same to them, for such a lack of tolerance for another person's decision. Seriously, if you don't want to see this film don't, but be aware that sooner or later you might run out of films to see and indeed opportunities in general because it is just too hard to try to live in the world like that. I'm not saying what Roman Polanski did was right, but nobody's free of wrongdoings, or do you believe yourself to be perfect? I know that not everybody has done something as bad as what he did, but all sorts of things ordinary people may have done have terrible consequences. Here is a list of just a few [to give you an idea] things some ordinary people may have done under this category

Drunk driving or driving while talking on the phone [endangering other people's lives]
Having an abortion [killing a baby]
Even just saying something that hurts somebody else's feelings [you can never know the extent of upset this can cause someone else]
Selling drugs [this can risk someone's life under some circumstances]
Using the n word [inciting racial hatred]
Prank-calling the police [wasting their time when they need to help other people]
Bullying somebody at all [the consequences of this can affect someone's self-esteem forever]
Doing graffiti [this is damage to another person's property]
Of course, not everyone has done something as bad, but I can see how most ordinary people might in similar circumstances. So to all those who do, boycott him if you like, but I think you should bear in mind what I have said and at least be more tolerant of other people's decision not to.

Im not sure on whether to applaud you on your moral stance against the moral crusaders here or to scold you for absolutely ridiculous wrongdoing list that followed.

Directed by Polanski, which is a good reason not to watch, true. (Another reason - Winslet is in it, i try to avoid her movies)

BUT Christoph Waltz is in it. So... Love is stronger than hate! 

My dream movie would have Stanley Tucci, Andy Garcia and Christoph Waltz in it. For all I care it could be a 3 hour footage of them reading the phone book to each other.

It's the same reason why I love the music of Kanye West.
Why can't I like the music and not the man?
Do you know how many famous artists have done questionable things?
And who made you Polanski's judge and jury?
How presumptuous.

reply

Just because he is a rapist doesn't mean we shouldn't support his commercial works. I am happy to support him. 😃

Pro human rights, to be more exact.

We don't need people telling us what to do, whatever activists they may be. If you don't want to purchase the product of a criminal, then don't. But don't tell me not to purchase his product.

Ill watch his movies as long as they are good. I have no interest in his personal affairs and country bans.

Two things to remmeber though: What he did was never proven, so you CANNOT CLAIM he did anything. As in legally you are commuting a crime by claiming it.

Oh and the second thing is to remmeber that morality is personal.
