why is sinestro in this?

SPOILER. didn't he die in the first flight movie? and why are him and Hal friends?

It's just a story. There could be a number of reasons, but most likely, he just hasn't turned into the Sinestro that creates the Yellow Lantern Corps....

I loved the gag related to that,when Sinestro says "If I had a power ring for every time I heard that, I'd have my own corps"

I don't think it's directly tied into First Flight.

This isn't a sequel to GREEN LANTERN: FIRST FLIGHT. I like that Sinestro is in this, because we get to see him working as a good Lantern. At least until that alien who can see destiny suggests the Yellow Lantern uprising.

Yeah I’m pretty sure that this is in a continuity separate from First Flight.
