The only one here being hypocritical and offensive with personal attacks is you, so before trying to tell me what to do take a look at your own manners. Again, if you think the Super Bowl thing wasn't planned or rehearsed, you're a bit naïve.

You're either being obtuse, naive or both.

No sexual assault happened whatsoever, if you think it wasn't premeditated by Jackson and Timberlake, then I refer you to my first sentence.

So which is it?

(and Go Learn what words mean)

"it is worth noting that everybody devoted a lot more breath back then to a woman’s breast being bared than the WAY it was exposed—a 'man' reaching across and ripping off half her bustier in essentially a choreographed sexual assault. “Gonna have you naked by the end of this song” were the lyrics [the untalented boy-band criminal loser] had just finished 'singing'."-james Poniewozik

http://entertainment.time.com/2014/01/30/nipplegate-at-10-a-flash-and-a-flash-in-the-pan/

reply

Ok, thanks for the link. Now I have context. Here's the thing about that - this was something that was set up by Janet. She wanted it because it brought her a lot of attention. I agree that the whole thing is vulgar and a bit upsetting and once seen, cannot be unseen. It was offensive that she bared herself and equally offensive that she had another performer assist her in her undressing. However, this does not point to Justin being a molester. Have you heard of a single incident beyond this staged one that involves him and sexual misconduct? Everything I've read or heard about him reveals him to be a decent human being.

As for "choreographed sexual assault", I'm going to disagree. That was more of a choreographed strip-tease involving two performers. There was no assault because it was the desired outcome. There was no victim, other than the audience. To tell the truth, I feel that it was nasty of Janet to set this up and involve another performer. The whole thing sounded so distasteful. It also sounded somewhat immature and I look at this as something stupid young people did several years ago.

Whether you agree with that assessment or not, you are in the minority. No one is going to boycott this film because of Justin and it appears that you are the only one in this thread who is upset about a staged incident at the super bowl so many years ago. Generally speaking, I don't boycott performers because then everyone associated with a film is being punished and that doesn't feel right. And in this case, I'm just not in agreement that Justin was so awful in his part in this. Further, even though I find Janet distasteful for her part in it, I'd still go see a movie she was in.

So, if you want to boycott the film and Justin, you go right ahead, but you haven't convinced anyone to join you and it's not looking likely that you ever will. Also, calling people "fanbois" isn't going to win anyone to your side.

reply

Go Learn Logic. Why would janet go along with it? his CRiME not only increased repression and censorship...but it also encouraged all the racists and misogynists with their reprehensible blame-the-victim nonsense....which ENDED her career!

"minority"? ha! Read the article again. Application of even a little bit of Critical Thinking will show it certainly is sexual assault.(and even though election results apparently mean that a "majority" supports groping women, that doesn't make it any less of a crime...and i will not, despite your wishes, Quit opposing it.

reply

Why would Janet have on nipple jewelry? Why would she admit that she planned it?

http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/news/nipple-ripples-10-years-of-fallout-from-janet-jacksons-halftime-show-20140130

Applying critical thinking and logic tells me the source of the article you provided is biased and the author has an axe to grind and wishes to turn this into an issue that it was not.

And no, "fanbois" is slang that you kids use these days to try to sneer at one another. It is not a diagnosis of any kind, let alone a clinical one. My warning to you was that if you wanted to win people over to your point of view, you're not going to be successful by insulting them. But your responses are telling me that you don't care if people agree with you or not, you simply wish to trash them and express your anger, otherwise you'd listen. Clearly this is a one way communication all from you to the rest of the world. We're not listening and YOU are in the minority.

Way too much emotion and nastiness in your messages.

It seems that you did not read my last post to you. You never responded. When you read something that pushes your buttons, it's important to look at other sources and to see what the opposing viewpoints say. In this case, it turns out that Janet, herself, admitted she set the whole thing up. http://www.mtv.com/news/1484801/janet-jackson-issues-video-apology-for-super-bowl-incident/.

Janet lost her reputation because she orchestrated a stunt that was not approved of by the people who hired her. It was completely inappropriate for the audience and it caused the covering network some embarrassment. Janet admitted that she set it up and claimed that it wasn't supposed to expose as much of her as it actually did. If you read the article I linked, you will learn that there was a wardrobe malfunction because the stunt was originally supposed to leave her with lace covering her breast. And then you would clearly see the nipple jewelry underneath it. That's still rather inappropriate for the venue and was not approved of.

Crying rape when there is no rape helps to discredit those who are actual victims. Nursing anger and outrage over a celebrity stunt is wasted effort. There are enough real problems in the world that need that type of energy.

The OP is referencing the Super Bowl incident with Janet Jackson. They came across an opinion piece claiming that it was choreographed rape. While it's true that JT is guilty of partaking in the stunt, it seems likely that Janet orchestrated it. I read that she admitted as much and claimed it was a wardrobe malfunction because her clothing was only to be ripped off to the point that her bra would be exposed. Yet one has to wonder why she was wearing nipple jewelry if not to be prepared for this? I can't imagine that it's comfortable in any way and only serves a purpose if it's going to be seen.
