The stacked mobile homes

Seriously, how stupid is that? AND impractical!

I suppose they were trying to say that in the future, there are tons and tons of mobile homes but not enough space for them, so they decided to (somehow) stack them on top of each other. Not only is that unsafe, but how exactly do you lift up a thin shell structure like that and not crush it?

Put it this way: Why not just move to the existing cities? Or build new apartment buildings? Is the distribution of wealth really that uneven in the future?

They should have used shipping containers. They are solid an can be stacked quite high. The mobile home idea comes from the novel. Doesn't work that well when you see it onscreen and consider the realities of it.

? The movie is a story about a future where this does work well so there you go.

I think you have misunderstood me. Of course in the movie the idea is presented as working well, but when you see it onscreen, if you take about 10 seconds to consider it, you see how badly it would turn out in reality. The first time there was a high wind, for example, you would have half the city wiped out.
