Why all the hate? This was a very good movie.

This movie was so realistic and stayed in my mind for the whole day yesterday. It honestly frightened me more than Kidnapped (Secuestrados). Why all the hate?

you must be 10, if you say this movie is realistic

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. A movie so bad that if I ever meet anyone who says they like it, I actually don't want to know them.

reply

Yeah I agree, it was a pretty good COMEDY!

Yup, I laughed more during this film than any comedy released in the past 2 years.

I expected more. It wasn't horrible, yet I wouldn't give it more than 6 out of 10. Cage was pretty good in this movie, most others were subpar. There were some good ideas present to make the concept work but they weren't developed enough in the script.

It's not hate...It's just that the film is pretty awful. It's amazing the harm a bad script, bad casting and bad direction can do to a wonderful serious actress such as Nicole Kidman. The whole movie is cartoonish...dialogue and characters. No one is saved (I'm sort-of quoting The Beatles).

I didn't finish the movie as it sucked, I quit with 10 mins to go.

Now I watched last ten and it sucked even more, I mean this is a genre, family hostage blah blah and Schumacher is an A-list director, this movie is sucka failure on every level, the irrational behaviour from the characters is like the worst B-horror-movie. It's a parody, these ppl have been yelling at each other and threatened and fought for 2 hrs but in the end they all gotta blah blah before they finish each other off, any last words? I love you blah blah

this movie is completely imbecile I am gonna grade it down to 3/10 or something, 3 because kidman is so slim and hot and I would shag her and that's it

_______
"if seagal was thinner this could have been a theatrical product."

reply

i think because its exactly the same, you know, with bruce willis "the hostage"
a family got robbed and then held hostage by the robbers
this movie trespass have the same familiar storyline like hostage

I couldn't manage to be interested one second in what would happen to anyone in this bunch of no brains losers shouting at each other all the time. I was glad when finally everyone shut up for good (yes they had the bad habit of not wanting to stay down once and for all).

There is a big difference between "I enjoyed this movie" and "This was a very good movie." Many of the posters here need to learn this difference. If you liked the actors, or this style of movie, cool, more power to you - I know you'll find a lot more movies on the shelf just like this one. But don't try to fool yourself that the plot, acting, cinematography, pacing and editing were anything more than sub-par cliched tripe. There are many bad movies I also enjoy watching, but I'm wise enough not to recommend them to other people.

Don't fool yourselves as in, don't think its a good movie just because you found it entertaining. The technical aspects of it where subpar, the script was subpar because it has nonsensical actions from the bad guys waiting around and going over the 20 minute barrier. When one of the bad guys said they're chances of failing increase by 10% for every 1 minute above it thats when I'm thinking 'Hell Yeah! time to get serious!'... and then everyone just talks for 2 hours -_-
when they should be rapping things up already...
It has bad direction because everyone was overacting except the daughter and the main bad guy who was also way to soft on Nicolas Cage, merely slamming him on the table instead of torturing him.
The other bad guy clearly said that he saw lots of money, so its clear that Cage is lying.

I understand that one of them objected to killing the wife (I can buy that) and objected to killing the daughter (ok... it's bordering on stupid considering they are supposed to be robbing the place, they have to be prepared to kill someone if it comes down to that, which is important in order to show that they mean business). It feels contrived in order to artificially lengthen the film.

What I don't understand is instead of listening to his excuses (which some people would lie to the ends of the earth to protect all their wealth) They should have started cutting off his fingers, or ripping his nails off to get him to talk. The bad guy involved with his wife wouldn't object to that would he?....

I also don't get why that female took her mask off, and she had no gloves on. Is she trying to get herself imprisoned? Nobody can be that stupid.

And when the daughter escapes why doesn't she just keep running in a straight line all the way to the dam police station? Why sit and hide in the bushes instead?

Its simply a case where the script, director come together to release another film you'll forget after watching.
