2/10. Here's why:

UNE VIE DE CHAT has a very straight-forward script, but I was still having fun with the story and the characters. Unfortunately, the ending ruins everything. Look, I'm willing to suspend my disbelief in movies. I can pretend that NICO and ZOE's mom fall in love despite not being any real reason for that, because animated movies tend to wrap things up as sweetly as possible. What I can't ignore is NICO not being arrested for stealing for God knows how many years. I get that directors Alain Gagnol (who also co-wrote the script) and Jean-Loup Felicioli wanted to show him as a criminal with a heart of gold who changes his ways. There would've been reasons to believe that if his character had been developed, but the audience doesn't really get to know him. Just because he saved a little girl doesn't mean he won't steal again. The fact that there are no consequences when he marries the cop who chooses not to arrest him sends a wrong message to children.

Any thoughts?

I gave it 5/10. I did think the animation was quite beautiful, and the cat was charming. The story was forgettable.
