rewatching it right now: new input?

I was so disappointed with Camelot the first time around I put off rewatching it with less expectation for quite a while. I am now finally rewatching it and already a few things have changed:

1) "Historical fiction". Now that time has gone by and I don't remember all the advertising for a "historical" take on the legend, I find much more pleasure in watching the show. Three seasons of Game of Thrones are helping as well. If you think of Camelot purely as a fantasy show, and not a period drama, then it is quite good looking: I've finished watching ep. 1 and I must say I love the costumes, the architecture, the weaponry, etc... more or less entirely.

"Occasionally I'm callous and strange."

I'm doing the same now and with a different view you love the show.
But it can't be compared with already a cult series like Game of Thrones.

I agree with this comment and I think they made a really cool play with some of the character ideas - changing them up a bit.

Had the show been able to go on, I think it could have become better. There are many shows which if they only had one season, would be considered terrible flops...but since they were allowed to develop became wonderful. Buffy the Vampire Slayer for instance, has a corny campy and sometimes ridiculous 12-episode first season. However, even by the next year the show had become tremendously better and went on to create some of the best episodes of television I have ever seen.

That being said, I think the Morgan/Arthur cliffhanger was actually a really great way to end the show. Had it actually played out, it may have took the excitement out of it and become a little ridiculous. It also would have been a shame to have a series that goes on for say, 5 years, and have such great characters like Leontes and Sybil only in the first season.

Just started watching it as well. I've been pleasantly surprised considering all the hate I have read. Ive actually enjoyed JCB as Arthur! Sad to know there is only one season.

I wish it were on again. I enjoyed it the first time.
