How did this end up so average?!

Great cast... story that has some intersting elements for the genre... decent plot and setting... but wow... the end result is just so average...

The director must have tried hard to make this a standard, average, middle of the road movie... a very by-the-number result...

At the hands of another director this could have been a lot of fun and interesting... wasted opportunity...
